A true haven of refinement and exclusivity: this small, intimate hotel comprises 34 bedrooms decorated with antiques as well as furniture and furnishings from the Belgian interior decorator Flamant Home interiors®. It is situated in exceptional surroundings not far from the Pointe aux Canonniers at the mouth of the beautiful bay of Grand Baie.

GUEST ROOM

Hotel 20°Sud Mauritius has 28 rooms and 6 suites, some of which are less than 10m from the beach! They are divided into four categories: the “Charm” rooms, the “Beachfront” rooms, the “Suites” and the “Austral Suites”.

All the rooms are air-conditioned and have a beautiful terrace which looks onto the attractive coconut grove bordering the sea.

The rooms are tastefully furnished and equipped with queen-size bed, safe, plasma extra flat screen television (17 channels Canal Satellite®), DVD player, telephone and free, unlimited access to high speed WIFI internet.

A minibar and tea- and coffee-making facilities (Nespresso® machine in the “Beachfront” rooms, the “Suites” and the “Austral Suites”) are at your disposal.

Each bathroom is equipped with an old style bath, a separate shower and two wash basins built into a beautiful wooden surround. The suites additionally have either an outdoor hot tub (Jacuzzi®) or a small private swimming pool.

The Hotel
The 20° Sud Hotel Mauritius offers three, totally exclusive restaurant spaces:
• That within the hotel itself,
• Another housed within a ruin situated on an island just off the coast,
• The third on a beautiful old boat renovated by the hotel: the M/S Lady Lisbeth.

The kitchen is directed by the talented Mauritian chef, Manolito Grosset, who gained his experience in the finest hotels of Mauritius as well as in a starred restaurant in Switzerland. He will prepare some delicious fish-based dishes just for you.

The fish are caught off the shores of the Mascarene Islands and include varieties such as babonne, vieille rouge (red wrasse), coryfène sea-bream, sacréchien and vacoas. The meat is just as tasty and comes from South Africa.

You can also savour our six-course lobster menu, or a sushi menu prepared from the catch of the day. On request only.

Fat Island
The hotel has an extraordinary site at its disposal on Flat Island.

Housed within an old ruin dating from the 19th century, now a listed building is a little restaurant we have fitted out in the middle of nowhere: Just a few tables, a magical setting on a wild beach looking out to sea within lush and protected surroundings. Every effort is made to respect the natural environment, even your shower water is desalinated using solar energy.

Fresh fish, lobster and Australian meat kebabs are on the menu. The hotel's private catamaran Lagoon 440 will take you to the island, a journey of 1.15 hours, and is also available for private hire for cruises around the island, drinks at sunset etc...

Lady Lisbeth
An exclusive offer on Mauritius:

The possibility of dining aboard the island’s oldest motor boat: the M/S Lady Lisbeth. This 17m “vintage” boat in teak, built in 1929, was painstakingly and completely restored to its former glory with the help of photos found at the Taylor and Smith Marine Museum at Port-Louis.

When salvaged only the hull was still in good condition. We rebuilt all the superstructures, had replica masts made of the originals and the antique fittings were bought from a boat scrap yard near Bombay.

Every evening she sets sail on a gastronomic cruise around the bay. Reservations for eight passengers only. Boarding is at approximately 19.45. Welcome drinks are served on the deck before the boat leaves its mooring at the hotel and heads towards the calm waters of the Grand Baie where it anchors, just off the town, for dinner

The return to the hotel is planned for 23.00. She is also available for private hire or for functions (intimate weddings, cocktail parties, birthdays etc.).

20° Sud has a lovely outdoor fresh water swimming pool (heated in winter 26°) with a view of the sea. The hotel enjoys a small, private white sand beach with deck chairs and thatch kiosks. Swimming is excellent. Beach towels are supplied to clients.The hotel is a perfect location for windsurfers and catamaran lovers: a huge bay sheltered from the waves with a continual breeze all year long!

20° Sud is also an excellent starting point to discover Mauritius. The Grapefruit garden and sugar museum are just 15 min away by car, the huge Mont Choisy beach is only 5 min and Port Louis a 30 min drive. Important to mention: the hotel organizes different private excursions by boat or by car.
